One of the most sufficient materials you can use in your do-it-yourself hair masks is honey. It is emollient and moisturizing, helps your hair retain moisture, and also makes your hair look shiny, smooth and healthy. Honey is also rich in antioxidants that help prevent damage to your hair and scalp.
Here are 3 strengthening honey masks for fast hair growth…
Honey, banana and olive oil
This mask ensures that the hair is always super soft, shiny and moist. You can easily prepare it using only 3 materials.
- 1 banana
- 3 tablespoons of honey
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil
To start, cut the banana into slices so they’re easy to blend. I recommend mixing it with a fork rather than mashing it, so you don’t have to worry about small lumps getting caught in your hair. After slicing the banana, add honey and olive oil and mix until soft. Applying the mask to damp hair will cause the mask to absorb more adequately. After applying a lot of the mask all over your hair, leave it on for 30 minutes before washing it with your favorite shampoo. Continue your usual hair drying/styling routine.
Honey and castor oil
This is another great mask for hair growth. Castor oil is one of the neatest oils you can use to stimulate hair growth. It contains fatty acids and vitamins that make hair strands strong and also acts as an anti-fungal to help fight scalp infections.
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- 3 tablespoons of castor oil
Add both ingredients to a small bowl and whisk until the ingredients are well mixed. Divide your hair into four sections to make it easier to apply the mask. To help the mask penetrate the hair better, use a spray bottle to spray your hair with water until it’s damp. Apply the mask liberally to every part of the hair until your entire head is covered. Wrap your head with a shower cap to hold in the heat and let it sit in your hair for 30 minutes. Rinse off the mask with shampoo and continue with your usual drying/styling routine.
Honey, aloe vera and yogurt
Aloe vera is great for hair as it contains antifungal, anti-inflammatory properties and vitamins B2, B6 and folic acid which help maintain scalp health and promote hair growth. Yogurt is great for protein and also contains lactic acid, which helps cleanse the scalp and remove dead skin cells.
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- 3 tablespoons of aloe vera gel
- 2 tablespoons of yogurt
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
Mix honey, yogurt and olive oil in a bowl. It is best to use the plant for aloe vera gel as it gives the best results and is the most natural. To remove the gel from the leaf, cut the leaf in the middle and add the gel inside the plant to the bowl with other tools. Mix well with a fork until all the ingredients are properly mixed and the texture is smooth. To apply, divide your hair into four sections and moisten each section with a spray bottle to help the mask penetrate the hair more evenly. Apply liberally to each part and leave the mask on for 30 minutes. Wash with your favorite shampoo and continue with your usual drying/styling routine.
