How to take care of teeth in Ramadan, acidic drinks threaten teeth!

If those who fast during Ramadan do not eat or drink anything for 16-17 hours, it prepares a place for the formation of odor and bacteria in the mouth. The formation of caries and inflammations in the mouth causes the formation of an unpleasant mouth odor. Guzin Kırsaçlıoğlu, one of the four Turkish members of the European Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry (EAED), which has world-renowned dentists, says that more attention should be paid to oral and dental care in Ramadan than ever before.

WHAT SHOULD BE DONE TO AVOID ODOR IN THE MONTH OF RAMADAN?

These bacteria spread in the mouth and cause bad breath. In addition, sleeping quickly after sahur causes dental plaques to not be completely cleaned. To avoid these problems, teeth should be brushed for at least two minutes between iftar and sahur and floss should be used. By drinking plenty of fluids, the decrease in salivary secretion should be prevented.

ACID BEVERAGES THREAT DENTAL HEALTH!

Kırsaçlıoğlu said, “In Ramadan, attention should be paid to eating and drinking habits as well as oral and dental care. These habits are very valuable for dental health as well as physical health. During Ramadan, especially acidic food and drink consumption should be avoided. Sugary and sweet foods, as well as acidic drinks consumed during these months, pose a great threat to dental health. In order to prevent these, consumption of acidic foods and beverages should be minimized during these months and dental care should definitely be done.” said
